What is an online booking system?
An online booking system lets visitors see open days and times on your website and book an appointment themselves, even after hours. Instead of waiting for a phone call or trading messages back and forth, the customer picks a suitable time; the system records the booking, sends a confirmation and notifies you. The business saves time and fewer requests slip away.
Unlike a plain "call me" form, it works against real availability: full slots appear closed, two people cannot take the same slot, and your working hours and capacity are enforced exactly as you set them.
How does it work?
- The visitor picks a service/branch: if you offer several services, staff or locations, they choose first.
- They see open slots: the calendar shows only genuinely available times.
- They leave their details: name, phone/email and an optional note.
- They get a confirmation: an email confirmation and calendar file (ICS) go to the visitor; you get a notification.
